Blog #7

So this reading has taught me a lot about Greek architectural orders. I had no idea there was so many details. I basically always called these things as big houses with columns aha. I really had no idea about the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders or that every part had a certain name (ex:shaft, capital, drums, echinus, stylobate, stereobate, ect.) Well anyways, I think greek architecture can obviously be related to our lives today. Greek architecture is everywhere, and sometimes we don't even notice it. So instead of just talking about this relation, I thought I would put some pictures up because they help illustrate my point more than words :)

Wow I really love how you went through all; the effort to find more than one structure that relates to the Greek structures of the past. The White House was probably my favorite picture. I, too didn't pay much mind to the architectural frame work of buildings. I would freely admire them and know a beautiful building when I saw one, but never really thought about where the concept of it came from. It's amazing that with so little technology people were able to make such large works of art.

It seems that throughout time we see art repeating itself. The Greeks then later the Romans built large buildings with columns, and now hundreds of years later we are still building structures with the same columns and ideas.
